Welcome.

Everyone has a gripping stranger in their life. Their presence is crucial in shaping your sense of place and existence, but the key to it all is that you only know them in passing. They are like the negative space in a shoebox diorama; noticeable only when they are replaced by something else, missed especially when they are not there, and noted particularly when and if they ever leave. They are fascinating and delightful and make life mysterious and exciting.

This blog is dedicated to the celebration of gripping strangers in our lives. If you ever find yourself on these pages or would like to contribute your own story of a gripping stranger, contact me: jackielwong[at]gmail[dot]com.

Notes: these small stories about strangers are not intended to be creepy, sexual, malicious, or an attempt to emulate the "I Saw You" column in free weekly newspapers. They are meant to function as a celebration of those with whom we share our public spaces and who contribute to the excitement, beauty, and wonder of urban life.
